Once a year I make a habit to buy a knife for my collection of them (most of them are either old past downs from my Dad or are just cheap “Frost Cutlery brand” knifes!) and so when I went to the flea market for $70.00 there was a guy trying to sell me a K-Bar. But I didn’t get it but instead got a cheap Frost Cutlery $20.00 knife set (2 knifes in all)!
I know that K-Bar’s are a real quality knife (perfect for gutting deer!) that the military uses but for that kind of money I want the real K-Bar, not a cheap made in China replica.

My mom recieved a knife with a pretty blue and other colored wooden handle as a gift at a craft show in Conroe, TX a few years back. The man who made them no longer makes knives and I am looking for something similar. All I have been able to find cost more near the 100 -200 dollar range. I have a block set bought off of TV, I don’t suggest doing that. I am now building a set. I just bought a 7″ & 5″ Santuko set of Calphalon knives. I am nowing looking to get the 8″ Chef’s Knife, 5″ Santoku, 6″ Utility and 3.5″ Parer all in a set. Do I need it or can I manage with the 2 Santuko knives. Yes I know that set has a 5″ Santuko. I will probably give it as a gift to my mom if the set makes since. Thanks again for any and all help!

I am looking to get an low to mid priced, decent chef’s knife to give to my fiance. He has dreams of being a french chef, so normally only the best will do. However knives can be very expensive, and for our first set I’m trying to buy one at a time mid level, because I’m not made out of money. I was going to start off the set by giving him a 6″ Chef’s knife in his stocking this year.

Our local kitchen store sharpens them for $3 a knife. But, one of the supermarkets here (Raleys) will sharpen them for free in the meat department while you shop.
