I have been researching cutlery and have determined that there is a wide disparity between knives of quality and those considered serviceable. Wustoff versus Chicago Cutlery as an example.

Cutco is sold by individuals or on line….this and my garden are my few luxuries in life…I have had my Cutco knives of all sizes, shapes, etc. plus the 100.00 scissors for 15 years….I also have the great steak knives..Anytime they get dull which will take several years, you get to send them back to Cutco and they will (for free) sharpen them again…………other brands simply cannot compare….it is one of those old saying, “You get what you pay for”…in this case you get more than what you paid for. I would rather have one knife from Cutco than 5 different sizes from someone else.

What Are The Best Chef Knives Available In The Philippines And Where Can I Get Them?

If you can find the brand called Wusthof, they are amazing and you can’t go wrong with them! They are very, very sharp knives, they’ve been around forever, and they are of very high quality. They’re the ONLY ones I use and I’ve been through lots of knives.
I’ve tried the brand known as Furi, but they dull very quickly and a dull knife is a dangerous knife, and I noticed that no matter how much I sharpen that knife it just gets dull after each use.
With the Wusthof, I barely have to sharpen it, it keeps its edge and works beautifully. I have the chef’s knife, the serrated bread knife, and the santoku knife, but I have numerous of each one and I have the Classic and the Grand Prix II those are the ones you want, NOT the Gourmet, stay away from that one, it’s good, but the others are the higher ups and SO much nicer feel in the hand and the tang runs the full length of the knife in the other two, not in the gourmet.
Henckles is supposed to be really good. I have 2 of those and they are good, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Wusthof and ONLY use my Henkles for things like chicken and things I wouldn’t use my Wusthof on. LOL That’s how I feel about them. They are both good German Steel knives, but Wustof is a step up.
If you can get Wustof in your area, go for it! Go to a store and try one in your hand and see how it feels in your hand. It has to feel comfortable and not too heavy. Chef’s knives can run from 7 inches to 10 inches. I go with the 8 inches, but you have to see what’s good for you and what you like and decide by holding the knife and making sure it’s not too heavy and that the balance is good in YOUR hand and comfortable.
Try your local knife shop and if you don’t have one or don’t know where that is, go to a department store or home store. Any place that sells home goods and things for the kitchen will sell knives. You can also go to where they sell knives, like regular knives, they will have kitchen knives too.
I hope this helps!
