i think they teach their kids to eat the same way they do. i would assume its the same time frame that any other kids learn to use silverware. mine started shortly after the first birthday. thats the one way i got my 16 mo son to eat more, he wanted to be like the rest of us and refused until i gave him his own fork.

The Chinese also have spoons. Obviously because they have soups. Little kids use spoons for whatever can’t be eaten with the fingers.
