Amongst Chef’s In The Culinary Field What Is A Good Name Brand Knife Roll Set?

I’m going to a culinary school and they give me a choice to bring my own knife roll and take $400.00 off the cost, or I can have them issue me a knife roll when I get there. I just wonder if I will get some cheesy set I will get laughed at when I go out into the business.

nobody is going to laugh at you no matter what kind of knife roll you have. I work in a 3 star, and I just use a $20 Wusthof roll. I see a lot of people I work with using the JA Henckels locking, hard sided roll. Theres even a few chefs who use a $15 Workforce tool box. I would say buy the cheapest one you can fit your knives into, and spend the extra $400 on beer. Its you cooking that matters, not your knife roll.

The knives you will most likely get at school will be cheap and dull because they buy them in bulk. Unless things have changed since I have gone. I love my Wusthof’s they are my favorite. Also my friends use Globals which are pretty popular and really nice to work with. Good Luck

Cutco knives have been highly rated. They have all sorts of knives including chef knives.

Use the same knives they use in the kitchen you are working in now.
